When is the Best Time to Visit Tuscany?
With all that the stunning Italian region of Tuscany has to offer, you may be considering visiting for your next vacation. Before you start making plans though, you may first want to find out which months are best for you to stop by.
When’s best to visit Tuscany?
Tuscany is well known for being a popular tourist destination around the globe – and it gets its fame from all the things that it has to offer those who visit; from its rich history, to delicious traditional foods and wines.
The summer months tend to see the most tourists thanks to the heat, so if you plan to visit during this time of year, you might have to deal with crowds of holidaymakers. On the other hand, winter tends to have fewer visitors but colder weather, which for some just isn’t worth it.
What’s Tuscany like at different times of the year?
There are so many things that you could enjoy in Tuscany at any time of the year, but if you hope to make the most of your time in this magnificent region, it might be a wise idea to consider the pros and cons that come with visiting during different months.
End of September to October
Most would agree that October (and a little before) is the perfect time to stay in Tuscany, as there are generally less tourists and comfortable temperatures during this time of year. This is also when most vineyards harvest their grapes too, so there may be unique events to take part in that may not be available year-round.
November to March
Winter can often offer good travel deals – and many may want to visit in time to experience a special Christmas in this wonderful part of Italy. While the cold weather isn’t usually something that encourages people to visit at this time (which generally means less tourists), not everybody goes on holiday to enjoy the summer heat and experience, so this could be the perfect time to stop by.
Of course, some hotels, attractions, and restaurants may close for a few months, since it is classed as off-season and there are likely to be less visitors.
April to May
Just like October, many people find that Tuscany is just perfect during April and May. Usually, you won’t have to worry at all about there being too many tourists, and since the weather is generally pleasant during these months, you’re likely to have a great trip.
June to the start of September
Many people choose to go on vacation in the summer months to really get to grips with the experience of being away from home. You might find that some hotels, shops, and restaurants will be closed if their owners go on a holiday of their own though – which isn’t too uncommon during August for family-run establishments.
