Piazza del Campo

Piazza del Campo is located in the heart of the city, and there’s plenty here for sightseers to enjoy. Whether you’re interested in learning more about the history of this location, or want to immerse yourself in the stunning architecture; there’s likely to be something that interests you. A few examples of great sites include the Fonte Gaia and the Palazzo Comunale.

Twice a year, the Palio di Siena is held here – and if you plan to visit in July or August, you’ll want to check it out for sure. It’s an amazing example of Tuscan culture, as well the biggest event in the city.

The Torre del Mangia

Standing at 87 meters tall, this tower is an impressive structure that draws the attention of countless tourists every year. You could even go up to the top – and while climbing the 400 steps won’t easy, it’s considered worth it to see the magnificent views of the city.

Piazza del Duomo

Tuscany is home to countless points of interest – and most would agree that some of the best landmarks in the region are located right here in Piazza del Duomo. When visiting, you’ll certainly want to check out landmarks like the Piccolomini Library and the Crypt.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta

Also known as the Duomo in Siena, this site is not only one of the most stunning Romanesque-Gothic cathedrals in Tuscany, but also one of the most beautiful churches in the world. This structure isn’t just beautiful on the outside though, as there are plenty of things that make the inside of the cathedral just as (if not more) breathtaking than the exterior.

The Santa Maria della Scala

The Santa Maria della Scala, one of Europe’s oldest churches, isn’t very well known – but that doesn’t mean that this site is any less impressive. You’ll be able to find it in front of the Duomo, and while it’s not fully restored yet, it’s open and certainly worth a visit.
